Scratchcards

Do you get scratchcards in the US offering huge sums of cash if you match symbols or numbers?

Keeping It Simple 01.12.2010 03:03 PM

Does the lack of a response mean no?

Alex's Trip 01.12.2010 03:18 PM

Shit I wish I could rep you again for this. They need an auto-reply button that just puts this every time he posts.

I like the kind you can sniff; scratchcards that is, not thoughts.

automatic bzooty 01.13.2010 09:23 PM

i won $100 off one once. coo'.

phoenix 01.14.2010 04:40 AM

scratchies. yes

radarmaker 01.14.2010 05:22 AM

Idiot tax.

Keeping It Simple 01.14.2010 08:25 AM

The reason I ask is because people can get addicted to them, and I think it's slowly happening to my father. He's had a good run, mind. Over the past week he's won a total of £52 off numerous scratchcards. The scratchcard he favours the most is the one where you could win £40,000 a year for the rest of your life. The scratchcard costs £5 though.

phoenix 01.14.2010 08:52 AM

but five pounds can buy you so much more fun..

I think the last time I bought a scratchie was over 6 months ago. Rarely I do, with spare change or something, if I happen to be near a lotto office. They really aren't that much fun.

SONIC GAIL 01.14.2010 09:20 AM

That shit is no joke here. People drive from other states to get lottery tickets. There is a ton of hype advertising these giant pots people can win, it's on the news, in the papers.I hate when the person in front of me is getting lottery tickets. It takes forever. They decide to pick 10 different ones and scratch them on the counter, then get more tickets with whatever they might of won. It's like being in a casino. It's all a scam anyway. They contribute money to education in this state, but when they first started giving this money they cut that same amount of funds from what the state was already giving the educational system. So it really is just a way for the government to pocket some extra cash.

We have Scratch off vending machines now in the grocery stores.
I like the Mcdonald's monopoly scratch off. There are much better odds at winning something.

EVOLghost 01.14.2010 04:44 PM

I have never bought one of these things. i see 'em everywhere....but still nothing

ploesj 01.14.2010 07:05 PM

the post office where i worked sold those and i would have to pay the money to people who won something. the highest amount i ever paid to anyone was 25 euros, and my coworkers said they rarely saw anything higher.

SONIC GAIL 01.15.2010 09:56 AM

A lady won $4000 on a scratch off at the jiffy store this morning. Maybe I should have got one. hmmmm
