Petty, Lynne, Prince - While My Guitar Gently Weeps

watch prince own that stage

another reason why PRINCE > the world

atari 2600 07.08.2006 12:42 PM

Mr. Nelson is wonderful in that performance.

I shared that rock 'n roll hall of fame video at the old board.

I think Frampton's voicebox is a modified wah though.

Savage Clone 07.08.2006 12:45 PM

I have seen Ween use a talk box before.
I think a talk box has the possibility to be used for awesomeness, but it's hard to make people believe that because of Joe Walsh and Alice In Chains and the like.

I don't like all the extra equipment you need in order to use a talk box though. That's a pain. Digitech used to make a device called the "Talker" that used a regular mic and could go into your amp as part of your normal FX chain, plus it had other settings beyond the "talk box" mode. It was pretty cool. Wish I had bought one.

atari 2600 07.08.2006 12:52 PM

shit, I forgot about Joe Walsh.

In the eyes of the confessor...great

funk no. 49 with the James Gang...jammin'

Joe's (conversational) voice sounds even more burnt than Keef or Ozzy if one can believe it.

cryptowonderdruginvogue 07.08.2006 12:54 PM

everyone chekc out the prince video
prince > the world

and talk boxes are fucking FUN
my friend has one

atari 2600 07.08.2006 12:58 PM

I forget which bootleg it was, but I was listening to one the other day where Thurston was talking about his first rock show. It was none other than Peter Frampton. He commented on how let down he was by the whole thing & vowed that if he ever had a band he would make shows a real fun experience.

acousticrock87 07.08.2006 01:05 PM

I'm pretty sure when Weezer played Beverly Hills on some late night program he used a talk box for the solo. I've always wanted to try one.

Trasher02 07.08.2006 01:06 PM

Krached - Dinosaur jr

finding nobody 07.08.2006 02:12 PM

anything by jimi hendrix
vodoo chile by stevie ray vaughan

TheMadcapLaughs 07.08.2006 03:48 PM

Even though I hate the band Chicago, they have a song with a sick wah-wah solo, its called like, 25 to 6 or 4. Maybe one of you guys have heard it

contort:myself 07.08.2006 04:52 PM

miles davis' band on dark mangus and live evil
the dead - estimated prophet

but the greatest wah solo ever is (drum roll....): maggot brain

How do you like it? I've thought about getting a talk box before, but since I've never fooled with one before, I've been very hesitant in getting one.

For best wah solos, generically enough, anything by Hendrix I find to be some of the best.

Norma J 07.08.2006 10:46 PM

I've had it for a few months now and haven't really mucked around with it yet. It sounds cool. This one has a mic connected to the actual tube from the pedal, and has a speaker in the pedal, which seems to cut my amp out. So I've got to figure out how to run it straight from the amp. But I haven't looked into it yet, I hope I can do it with very little hassle.
