Love him or loathe him, he was a true original and had a profound effect on the music and culture of the late 70's and early 80's.
Without Malcolm McLaren and his ilk it's unlikely that 'independent' music in the UK would have flourished in the way it did and still does.
We all have a lot to thank him for.
