Gomez

I know some of you dislike them quite intently, but I happen to love them dearly - they're very nice indeed and they're from the same part of the world as me.

Anyway, for those of you who are fans there's some decent news: A new LP is coming out this year!

The title track, How we Operate, can be heard at the Gomez myspace site along with some other stuff (the version of Rythym & Blues Alibi is very good..

And after years of problems with third parties, they have their own site, which is being run by the band themselves! It's a decent site, and the guys are promising to keep it updated etc. It's at http://www.gomez.co.uk/news/.

Also, rather splendidly, LiveGomez.com have loads of free concert downloads, pics etc.

This is a half-hour radio show on KCRW, from 1999. Interview and some nice live tracks: Gomez on KCRW.

KCRW again, same thing, 2002 this time: http://www.kcrw.com/cgi-bin/db/kcrw....mplt_type=show

ANd at the same station again, 2004 this time, a video (@ 35mins) of Gomez in the station's studio, interviewed and playing very well indeed: Triple J Radio.

On KCRW, 19/05/06

It's a pleasure. There's absolutely tons of stuff there on Quicktime etc, all totally free. It seems really good.

Hip Priest 03.29.2006 04:29 AM

edit: this was more links, but I've put them all on the first post now.

Sorry for any inconvenience!

_slavo_ 03.31.2006 04:41 AM

I really used to like the 1st album, reminds me of great times when I was like 17 yrs old ;-).

Hip Priest 03.31.2006 05:05 AM

They've been doing good stuff ever since, as the links above testify, and the new LP is going to be excellent I think.

slavo - areyou putting some of your stuff up for us to hear? I only heard that one track.

dirty bunny 03.31.2006 04:18 PM

How We Operate is now available for pre-order directly from the band. It works something like this: When you order with express shipping, you can guarantee the CD will arrive on your doorstep on the official release date of May 2.
To many that would be enough. But this transaction is awash with additional opportunities for personal betterment and musical satisfaction. Such as:
* The first 600 pre-orders orders will automatically receive an autographed booklet signed by all five band members. **sorry - all of these are gone now**
* ALL pre-orders will receive a free Live EP with 5 tracks recorded from Ben, Ian and Tom's tour over the past month.
* Everyone who pre-orders will automatically be entered to win a framed printer's proof of the "How We Operate" album artwork AND 2 tickets to the Gomez show of your choice during their 2006 US or UK tour.. One winner will be chosen at random. In addition, 5 runner-ups will win 2 tickets to the Gomez show of your choice during their 2006 US or UK tour.
* In addition, you can add a limited-edition Gomez Cogs t-shirt to your order, featuring artwork from The Love Police. While supplies last.

Hmmm...

The LP that 'Do One' is from, 'Split the Difference', is a much more rock-type LP overall. 'Do One' is a good example of that LP's sound.

I only have the first album on audio tape....still, it was 1997 back then :)

Torn Curtain 04.16.2006 12:25 PM

I really like the first album, but I was disappointed by the second one so I lost interest in the band. I'll have a listen at their following records.

Hip Priest 04.20.2006 06:51 PM

For everyone who cares (ie me), you can now freely download the new video at the Gomez website! Splendid!

For the people who've said that the 'Mez lost it a bit after the first LP, check this song out - it's sweet.

Hip Priest 05.19.2006 05:58 PM

They were on KCRW again, today (19/05/06). You can listen and/or watch here.

Пятхъдесят Шест 05.19.2006 10:25 PM

They were here about a week ago, and thought about going, but ultimately opted to get drunk instead.

I wish I would have gone after checking some of your links Hip Priest.
