The Kinks
Wonderboy, for starters.
|
The stinks.
Kidding -- I like 'em. |
i LOVE them
we are the village green preservation society god save donald duck vaudeville and variety |
|
The Kinks are one of the few rock bands that my dad and I both like.
|
their run from "face to face" to "muswell hillbillies" is just astoundingly brilliant. some of my favorite albums ever.
|
And some of the most criminally overlooked works ever. Ray was fucking rebel fucking genius. He made High Art in a Down To Earth way.
Days, people! |
The thing about the Kinks... it was all Ray. The other huge British bands from that era had collaboration on their side, but Ray singlehandedly (well, he had some help) put together a string of truly astonishing rock albums. It took me a while, but I even like his later conceptual stuff that's totally bloated and dated. This band is second to Sonic Youth as favorites go for me.
If you don't own Arthur, Muswell, Something Else, Village Green, Face to Face... you must buy them now. Soap Opera is really cool also, in a weird way. |
its corny, but i love Waterloo Sunset. My grandparents met for the first time right next to the place the song was written from
|
I like them. They're better than The Beatles.

Most bands are! ;) |
A tremendous band. Much prefer them to The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
|
I love Arthur so much.
Especially Shangri La, Yes Sir No Sir, and Some Mother's Son. |
|
Are the most underrated British Invasion Band and are one of my favorites.
Seeing them live in my hometown in 1988 is in my top 5 concerts of all time. |
