We need user mods. This has gone on long enough.
 

All this nonsense would be put to an end if we had a half-dozen or so user moderators. Frequent users that don't cause trouble and uphold the ideas of the forum. This is an appeal to Habib to allow some people to moderate the board all the time. I'm not talking about a warlord type of mod, just kinda a watchful eye incase things get a bit crazy.

I've been a member of this board and Old Blue for over a year now. When I first came to the boards, they we're nice, inviting place where ideas could be shared freely and were rarely ever disrupted. But this board is an absolute travesty. A select few users have turned this board against each other. The trolls on the other board were not NEAR as bad. But, now it seems like we have a full time group of trolls.

This place has become a haven for bad ideas and bad vibes. It's not about the music and the people anymore, it's become a way to destroy yr fellow man.

Yes I agree. There have been.....certain people....who have sucked the fun out of this place.

Moderators will feel like they have to moderate though. It'd get out of hand if the wrong person was appointed.

That would be a great idea if we got mods. If we had people who come on the board daily that don't cause trouble then it could probably help with this nonsense.

Yes, that is why we be very selective in choosing. And it would be completely voluntary. Just track user patterns and find honest people to do it. Just so there would be one on at most times. I could think of a few right now.

That's a good point, but then again there's people who would like to moderate as well, and be willing to moderate the forum every day. Really depends on who's appointed like you said

To be honest, I wouldn't mind being a mod- but I really don't Chris would go for it.

As long as I don't have to hear, talk about, or read about Ween, I should be okay.

About the mods - that would be boooooooring.

I expected more out the people on this forum. These forums are set up for people with like or unlike ideas, living 1,000s of miles apart, to "come together", if you will, and exchange those ideas. Not for punks who have nothing better to do in their lives than to harass people over the internet. Get a job, start a hobby, jerk-off, whatever, just stop wasting our time.

One thing has to be said.This is about the 100th thread that complains about the quality of this dump but the thread starter only complains and that's about it.I dunno,in life like on an internet forum i don't have time for whingers.If something is really so bad,you and YOU only are the person who can make the difference.Cretinous creatures who expect to be entertained day-in day-out are more of a waste of space than the people who play havoc with situations and the like.Kudos to Savage Clone as he is the only poster today so far that made me want to go back to listen to XTC.A lot of the rest was mere finger pointing and neighbourhood watch drivel.

moderation has always seemed odd to me. i try my hardest to believe that people in online communities can more or less police themselves and just conversationally suppress or cold-shoulder problems.

for the most part, i think that's true. this board is more or less a pretty successful experiment in that respect. there's far less moderation here than in most forums. people generally take advantage of the simple forum structure to isolate drama. i have a lot of respect for the members of this board.

most sites would immediately re-ban returning banned users. i think that's absurd. if someone wants to come back and they jump thru the hoops of re-registration, it's apparent that they want to be involved in the community to which they're returning. if that's the case... fine. start over with a clean slate.

in the cases of the users whose profiles i've manipulated... how many moderators would go thru the trouble to do that when it's so much easier to just click the ban/delete buttons? even if people have colluded to irritate me in a personal manner, it's better to just let everyone see that for themselves and let both sides of the conflict express themselves than it is to have one person take some rash action and give the other party no means of responding.

people get carried away sometimes. it's easy to do. it doesn't mean they're incapable of toning things down though. believing that people are incapable of realizing they've pushed things too far and then relieving them of any possibility of proving otherwise is senseless.

It's become about how much you can annoy, harass, and just be waste of life. You can't start a thread without someone turning it into something about porn or "how I'm almost got arrested for being a complete waste on society and littered someones lawn with PeeWee Herman leaflets"

So why do you read them then?I wonder.

Chris, you have some good points, but I think you overestimate some of the users here. Some are pretty childish.
