Minneapolis rapper Micheal Larsen, aka Eyedea, passed away today, Minneapolis City Pages reports and the Rhymesayers website confirms. He was 28 years old. The cause of death has not been announced.

immediately cited, the creeping 'Net rumor is "drug OD," more specifically,
heroin.

yeah usually this age, with no confirmation means drugs or suicide. Really too bad. I hadn't kept up with him in recent years, but his first album (under the name Oliver Hart) was fantastic, and the 2nd E&A album was amazing. Sucks.

BTW, if anyone wants to really hear this guy shine, check out the track "Embarrassed" from Sage Francis' STILL SICK... URINE TROUBLE. It's actually Sage, Slug and Eyedea -- and it's really a remarkable song due to all 3 rappers. But Eyedea is just unbelievable on that one.

i saw him like 8 months ago or something, i heard he was over his drug problems and he seemed healthy, sad stuff i think he wasn't even 30 years old.

the newest album was pretty awful but the tracks were still good live, but it's a shame he isn't gonna get the chance to go out on a higher note

just amazes me more and more that I'm still here. I was 18 the first time I stuck a needle in a vein. Anyways sorry to see him or anyone go at that age no matter what the cause may turn out to be.
