Saw them yesterday at Rock Herk. They're good but after a while it kinda starts dragging for me.

HaydenAsche 07.16.2006 03:30 PM

I like it.

Gogogonorrhea 07.16.2006 04:37 PM

I've seen them, uh, yesterday, no, the day before yesterday. I was impressed.

Inhuman 07.16.2006 07:38 PM

Aaaahhh they came to Ottawa like, 3 weeks ago. It was fucking 19+. I hate being under age of majority and having the musical interest that I do.

narlus 07.16.2006 07:51 PM

i got some decent shots when they were in town a few weeks ago:

Story of my life.

They're pretty good, kind of a mix between mogwai and explosions in the sky. Some of it is a bit over the top tho.

nomadicfollower 07.16.2006 09:43 PM

Haven't listened to Mono before.

But if I may use this oppurtunity to ask if anyone as heard of a Japanese rock band named Yura Yura Teko....ahh, something or other? My sister recently saw them in NY and said they were pretty generic, but still really good. Opinions?

acousticrock87 07.16.2006 11:22 PM

Yura Yura Teikoku

Never heard of them but listening to them now. It is generic, little bit like Dinosaur Jr., I guess, but actually really good. I'm digging them.

I have to say, though, that Japanese pop sensation B'z is the most kickass pop-rock band in existence. They're sort of in the vein of Aerosmith, who I'm not too fond of, but they have a really good punk side to them, and they're known to play anything from blues to traditional Japanese-esque music. The guitarist, Tak Matsumoto, is phenominal.

I was there too. Were you wearing a SY-tshirt by coincidence? I saw like 4 guys wearing one, I forgot to wear mine...

sonicl 07.17.2006 04:10 AM

Excellent band. I saw them supporting Einstuerzende Neubauten a couple of years ago and they blew my mind. It had been years since I'd seen anything so powerful and hypnotic.

Don't worry, the time will come when you'll go to gigs and you'll look around and wonder if you're just a bit too old to be at this show. It's been happening to me for the last ten years.

Jef Mertens 07.17.2006 04:22 AM

Nope

I was more in the back. I hadn't seen you as I would recognize you as seen on pix here.

I was actually there to shoot Animal Collective, but don't get me started on them. It is AFTER ALL a Mono thread. :)

Trasher02 07.17.2006 04:25 AM

Too bad they stopped playing after ten minutes.

The flames behind the cold mountain was a super song to begin the show with!

I LOVED them when I first heard them, but now I can only listen to them once in a while or I get burnt out quickly. But my wife really likes them so I still hear them a lot. :)

atsonicpark 01.17.2008 04:27 PM

what afterthefact said.

replace the word "wife" with "my dog".

afterthefact 01.17.2008 04:47 PM

I glazed that and thought for a second you called my wife a dog. But I re-read it, and all is well.

_slavo_ 01.17.2008 05:02 PM

No, not Mono. Not for me. The only concert ever in my life that I left before it was finished.

Norma J 01.17.2008 05:25 PM

Checkin' them out now. They are pretty fucking awesome. I want You Are There.
