Grime/Dub-Step

What the fuck is it? I haven't heard anything but it seems like a decently popular musical scene.

golden child 07.19.2006 06:32 PM

stupid regaee/techno/beets type stuff

the ikara cult 07.19.2006 06:47 PM

Uk Hip hop/garage offspring. Only heavier and darker. Grime is quite a big umbrella now cos the term has been around a long time. Is hard to describe in any more detail than that.
Download some Dizzee Rascal or Sway or Wiley as they are probably the most well known artists who get put in that genre

Toilet & Bowels 07.19.2006 07:31 PM

sway isn't grime. and although dizzee rascal came out of grime he isn't really representative of the whole scene.

grime is the closest thing to an indiginous form of hiphop in the uk

listen to the mix sessions on this myspace page:

dubstep is kind of the instrumental version of grime, only dubbier

if you want to hear the best grime though you should try and track down some rips of live radio sets from either ruff sqwad, nasty crew, roll deep or newham generals. you should be able to find them quite easily on whatever filesharing program i reckon.

the ikara cult 07.19.2006 08:36 PM

You should probably listen to toilet & bowels (Sound advice whatever the context) rather than me.

Sonic Youth 37 07.19.2006 08:54 PM

How do you dub? You fight for dub, you plug dub in.

Пятхъдесят Шест 07.19.2006 09:07 PM

Free style rap battle?

I'm afraid I want no part of anything "blowing up in Houston."

What happened to England's unparalleled music scene they had for the longest time?

They had the most of the best rock bands & the very best punk band, they started metal, had all these good new wave bands, but everything coming out of the U.K. for the longest time is the most soulless shite imaginable.

Rubbish -- I tells ye.

Every small dick (& it's a country of exceedingly small penises -- just telling it like everyone knows it is, so sorry) in England decided they could make music with a beatbox or something -- fucking Disco Part II.

as for British rock, they still salivate over Oasis. It's a fucking time warp...like Badfinger/Wings & disco never went away...a bunch of goddamn hicks for the most part as far as I can tell.

Пятхъдесят Шест 07.19.2006 09:18 PM

Much better than something that has already blown up in Houston.

atari 2600 07.19.2006 09:33 PM

Was Ken Lay killed by some virtually untraceable heart attack-inducing CIA attack the day before he he was to be sentenced to the big house where he might possibly spill some secrets or did he really have an au natural coronary?

Inquiring minds want to know.

"We believe that God in fact is in control, and indeed he does work all things for good for those who love the Lord," Ken Lay said outside the courthouse in Houston after the verdict in his case was given.
The old timer really did love to suck on Satan's cock, right up until the end, bless his black heart.

At any rate, good fucking riddance!

I wonder if you ever experienced England's hidden reverse.Any sort of buggery goes on in there.Just a thought.

krastian 07.20.2006 03:14 AM

Buggery in London? Sign me up if they are hotties. Shit goes down everywhere of course and I want to be there. But seriously, I've thought about moving to London since I was 15 or so. Is it worth it? Will they think I'm a redneck with my southern drawl?

he doesn't know anything about contemporary underground music, and considering how much underground music gets talked about on this board it must take a considerable display of wilfull ignorance not to learn anything.

when he first posted that post about england all it said was this
