Wire reissues

I know they've been out on CD for a few months. Any word on vinyl reissues anytime soon?

Iain 08.15.2006 10:55 AM

Don't know but what's the deal with these reissues? They weren't out of print were they? No extra stuff as far as I could see, just in a digipack instead of a jewel case.....pointless.

porkmarras 08.15.2006 10:56 AM

Yep,you can get their records easily so why the re-issues?

gmku 08.15.2006 10:58 AM

Well, I thought they had been out of print. In fact, I'm almost certain they were. They were reissued this past spring--it seemed to be a big deal, from what I was seeing in the stores around here.

Anyway, I now see the CDs all the time, but so far, no vinyl. Just curious if anybody knows anything.

"Pink Flag Records proper CD release of Wire's first three late 70s
classics. The re-mastered albums have the same track listing, in the
same order as the original vinyl releases are are presented in
digipack replicas of the original vinyl sleeves with a 12-page
booklet detailing the story of each album illustrated by previously
unseen photos."

No they weren't out of print. In fact you can still get the CD's with the extra tracks.

Pink Flag out of all of them is permanently cheap.I haven't seen it priced more than £ 5.99 in a quite a while.

Toilet & Bowels 08.15.2006 11:22 AM

they're probably just reissuing them as attempt to draw attention to the records in light of what is popular at the moment, bloc party etc.

luxinterior 08.15.2006 12:20 PM

I've never heard Bloc Party. Do they sound like Wire or something?

gmku 08.15.2006 12:22 PM

NO! They sound like something. But not Wire.

porkmarras 08.15.2006 12:22 PM

Don't bother.i've never heard anything to by them but my friend gave me a remix cd of theirs wich i've never listened to because i sense bad vibes. She's been in the studio with them recently and i keep on saying to her that the cd is great.I've never listened to it.I can't face it.Sorry Kate.

gmku 08.15.2006 12:23 PM

I actually bought the Bloc Party Lp last year. Terrible. Boring. Bland. Irritating.

Toilet & Bowels 08.15.2006 12:24 PM

i was just using bloc party as an example of a post-punk revival band.

luxinterior 08.15.2006 12:26 PM

Ah, see, I don't really know anything about them.

Wire, on the other hand, are one of my favorites.

Toilet & Bowels 08.15.2006 12:28 PM

elastica were known for taking a lot from wire, if you're after that sort of thing.

So it looks like Wire did just re-issue their records on their own label (Pink Flag Records). Apparently, they also released a box set containing the 3 re-issues and 2 additional live CDs:

So nobody knows if they're coming out on vinyl. That's all I was really trying to find out. Maybe my slacker record store manager knows. Doubt it. They don't seem to know much of nothing, worthless slackers...
