Romantic Moments

I'm not typically a very romantic person; or rather, I'm not a fan of the typical, seemingly requisite sappy gestures of those in relationships (pet names, sending apologetic flowers, etc). To me, something like a Donati print is a far more romantic Valentine's Day gift than chocolates.

But today I'm in a rare sentimental mood, and was contemplating some of the more romantic gestures I've heard of. A woman I once worked with told me that her husband absolutely delighted in painting her toenails. For some reason, I found this extremely touching.

What are some romantic gestures you've received/performed/heard of?

I've had someone sing to me, but it was in no way romantic. It was embarassing and sad. Horrible!

Nothing legitimate from this end.

porkmarras 09.08.2006 02:43 PM

Fuck it!Accuse me of arselicking or whatever you want but:
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to truncated again.........and again............and again..........and again.........

I have been lucky enough to have had two separate relationships with the most unconventionally romantic guys i've ever met.No chocolates or the like.Just a fistful of intellectually challenging insults that turned into the longest and most sincere friendships one could hope for.I like it that way.

One of the most romantic things has to be watching tv on silent and listening to Glen Campbell's 'Witchita Lineman'.It really can't get any better than that.Small argument after that.Alawys good for 'THE ART'.

Yeah that is true romanticism Kegmama, I think is you give her a breakfast at bed would be romantic, I don't know I think.

cryptowonderdruginvogue 09.08.2006 05:08 PM

sometimes ill wake up 30 minutes early to make breakfest and take it to my significant other while she was in bed.
on a couple of occasions ive made reservations for dinner, told her that my parents want us to meet somewhere for dinner or a benefit and to dress nice, and then surprise her by it just being the two of us.
ive actually painted her nails in the past too, didnt enjoy it too much.
hung out at her house for a week when she was sick and just watched movies.

:D Sure can't.

To me, painting someone's toenails has more to do with a foot fetish than a romantic gesture. I like it nevertheless.

porkmarras 09.08.2006 05:24 PM

I think dear Truncy wasn't referring to sex there but then you fuckers have only got Da Sex in mind.

porkmarras 09.08.2006 05:25 PM

Probably because issues with it are prominent.

nomadicfollower 09.08.2006 05:27 PM

What? Romantic moments can lie outside of sex!?
Very doubtful.

porkmarras 09.08.2006 05:30 PM

Obviously..................

He liked doing it because it was a small gesture, but one he knew she appreciated. It was a few moments out of a day where he paid special attention to a tiny, seemingly insignificant detail, and that's what distinguished it from more obvious, and more often less sincere, signs of affection.

It was just cute, goddammit.

As a sidenote, however, I don't see what people have against feet. I think feet that are well-kept are quite cute, and even sexy at times.

Well, my feet are, anyway. I don't know about the rest of you dirty bastards.

And dudewithsuperlongscreenname, you're a bit on the odd side, but I must give you credit for those romantic bits, they are quite sweet.

porkmarras 09.08.2006 05:52 PM

Haha. But then again if feet are all you think about i'm disgusted.Big time.
