Donnie Darko is probably the best movie ever.

Yeah, ive seen it 4 times in the last 6 days and it definately rocks my socks quite hard! Has anyone else seen this cinematic masterpiece??

porkmarras 09.11.2006 08:59 PM

I wouldn't really go as far as calling it a masterpiece, sonny.Fairly decent movie but it says zero about zero.

atari 2600 09.11.2006 08:59 PM

Now you are being offensive atari.i'm really tired of giving you that injection as it doesn't seem to work.

umjammer atomsk 09.11.2006 09:02 PM

I can't say I liked it all that much.

Alex's Trip 09.11.2006 09:09 PM

I liked it. But best movie ever? No way.

Daycare Nation 09.11.2006 09:12 PM

The original theatrical version is WAY better than the director's cut. And yeah, this is one of my favorite movies. But I won't watch the director's cut again.

umjammer atomsk 09.11.2006 09:23 PM

What's different in the theatrical version?

Daycare Nation 09.11.2006 09:51 PM

In the theatrical version there was a better song in the opening credits and better music in the party scene, and there were no stupid computer monitor effects (purging files, etc.) toward the end. Also, the director's cut adds some very unnecessary scenes that take away from the pacing of the theatrical version--one such scene is the one where the parents are drinking coffee (?) on a veranda and talking about Donnie (or maybe they are at a restaruant...there are a couple of scenes like this....I only saw the director's cut once)--you must seek out the original version, it's better.

It was a good movie. I wouldn't buy it to own. My girlfriend loves it though.

give it to me. i don't even care what it is.

cosmokramer 09.11.2006 11:45 PM

yeah, I've seen Donnie Darko a few times.
A movie I liked a lot, and quite an impressive directorial debut.
But best movie ever? No sir, i don't think so.

LifeDistortion 09.12.2006 12:07 AM

Most directors's cuts are better then the original but this was just lame. Granted people who discovered the original film found it confusing and probobly had to give it a second viewing or watch it on director's commentary, but it was much more open-ended. Anyone who saw the movie a couple times and/or watched the commentary can deduce what the film is about, but if you are that viewer, and then saw the director's cut you probobly felt that it was telling you what the film was about, rather then letting you bring your own ideas into it. Its actually what I said in the Lynch thread, the original "DD" allows you to put your own interperations into it, but the director's cut pretty much tells you what the film is about, and its becomes a lot less mysterious and open-ended. I didn't like that.

Cantankerous 09.12.2006 12:08 AM

personally i thought it was retarded and i fell asleep. i fall asleep during a lot of things though.,

Tokolosh 09.12.2006 12:48 AM

I fell asleep too, but that's because I hadn't slept in 2 days. Gotta see it again soon.

static-harmony 09.12.2006 12:55 AM

I did not pay too much attention as it is when I rent movies or have movies and watch it at home, so I need to see it with full attention.

Style 09.12.2006 12:58 AM

It's good, but that's about all that I'll give it. Won't even make my top 10.

terminal pharmacy 09.12.2006 01:25 AM
