Some one stole my bike today!

Last night I put together basically a transportation bike to get to school and back. If I sold it I'd be lucking to get $10, parts are worth more. But I left it at school unlocked and I went to get it and it was gone. So I walked around town for abotu two hours trying to find it, ready to kick some ass. But I didn't. I ened the day though getting a free mountain bike from my grandmother.

One cheap ass bike:
black mongoose frame
x-games bars
huffy rims(sprayed blue)
some old white and purple tires
and a shitty ass sprocket/crank set

Oh well.

what kind of paradise do you live in where you can still be surprised to see your bike gone after leaving it unlocked?

anyway, nice you still got some bike left. make sure to buy a lock though, even if it costs more than $10.

I've got like four or fives bikes so im not too worried.
Usaully I leave my bikes on the street and their fine.

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 09.18.2006 06:01 PM

It took me a while to get upset. After I realised I would be walking home. The first bike in a while that had breaks as well.

I lock my bike everywhere.
I got rid of my car, so I have to be cautious.
Plus I love this bike so much, I would be really crushed to lose it.
Former 3-speed cruiser, British frame, now a high-geared single-speed street machine that I adore.
Lock them up ALL THE TIME.
Especially at school; schools and universities are prime bike thievery zones. Plenty to choose from.

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 09.18.2006 06:25 PM

yeah, im bringing a different bike tomorrow, ill be locking this one up.

pokkeherrie 09.18.2006 06:36 PM

yes, remember kids... always lock your bicycle.

to my ears people leaving their bicycles unlocked must either live in heaven or have really really old bicycles... or have some community bicycle program.
there was some hippie plan in amsterdam in the 60's called the "white bicycles". it never really took off though and when it was tried again about 10 years ago all bicycles got stolen.

apparently there's such a program in oregon too, so golden child can still leave his bike unlocked i guess.

i had a very nice bike when i was about ten that was stolen when i left it at a friend's house. i had history with that bike; i fell off of it and broke my arm a few months before it was stolen. i was pissed. i would feel yr pain, but it appears that you don't really have any.
