DVD ripper for mac???

I need a good free dvd ripper for mac. Can somebody give me advise and maybe some links? Much appreciated.

wax 09.19.2006 03:53 AM

dont know. i dont have a dvd burner so theres not often much use for ripping dvds.
i did dream i had a macbook pro last night.
its a bit scary when you start dreaming about computers.

Tokolosh 09.19.2006 04:01 AM

Thanks anyway wax. Those mac pro's are mighty fine! I dream about them all the time. :)

wax 09.19.2006 04:06 AM

yeah, they re fine indeed.
its not often i care about "things"
i live out of a bag half of the time. i just need my music and something to listen to it on. i never need things.
but a macbook pro, well, i just really, really fucking want one.
but they cost a fortune and im a pauper.

The 17" intel Core Duo is a reincarnation of the father, the son and the holy ghost, all in one. What mac/macs do you have?

wax 09.19.2006 05:31 AM

just an ibook g4 14 inch.
its playing up a bit. i bought it 2nd hand less than a year ago cuz i couldnt afford a new one. i think it needs a new harddrive.

Tokolosh 09.19.2006 05:38 AM

I got a Quicksilver G4 Duel a few years ago and the same iBook you got. I bought it secondhand too and even though it's old, it's still a very good machine.

wax 09.19.2006 01:46 PM

i was stupid with mine. i went about a month one time without ever turning it off.
i could do with a dvd burner, bigger harddrive, faster processor, wider screen etc.
i might try and save up for a macbook when the next os comes out. leaopord? should be nice.
i think its actualy cheaper to fly to nyc and buy a mac and come back with it than it is to buy in the uk. so ill probly do that.

static-harmony 09.19.2006 01:53 PM

I want an ibookor one of those.

wax 09.19.2006 02:01 PM

you can buy my inbook static harmony.
500 quid plus postage, full of music and software and films.
(ignore my post about it not working very well)

static-harmony 09.19.2006 02:02 PM

Lol Wax, no sorry I already am saving money to buy new, I had a bad experience buying used electronics, so I only buy new.

Tokolosh 09.19.2006 02:14 PM

All the mac books are 13" now. I'd rather save and get the mac book pro 15,4" or it's big brother, the 17".
The Lacie external hard drives are perfect for mac laptops.

wax 09.19.2006 02:18 PM

haha, fair enough then.
ill flog it on ebay.

really want a 15 or 17 inch. 17 better for when youre using it, but not for carrying it around....hmmm.....anyway, im just making myself want it more.

HandBrake... best one I've used.

ahhhhh the intel duo core...so nice.

I recently ran a test on the intel duo core Mac Pro 2.33ghz
vs. the G5 quad architecture 2.5 ghz.

The test was I simultaneously selected the entire applications folder and opened the bastards.

The results: the mac pro opened every app and window within 25 seconds, the g5 opened all within 78 seconds. This test isn't the best at comparing because the g5 had final cut studio loaded, but even then the amount of RAM between the two were identical and so were the programs loaded (with the exception of final cut). In any case I would love to have either of those machines, but especially that intel dual core...arrrrrrrghhh!!!

Mine is powered via Firewire. Have you got the old one?

Tokolosh 09.20.2006 08:14 AM

Well, there's nothing wrong with that one at all. It's just a little slower when transferring data.
Besides, you can buy more and stack them up, as high as you like. :)

wax 09.20.2006 11:24 AM

how many apps did you load in 25 seconds?

oh,
yea
never goin back.
