Beck - The Information
I love it...
Anyone else? Yes? No? Discuss... ! |
Haven't heard. Is it his new cd? I wasn't very fond of guero.
|
Is it even out yet?
I really like the idea for the cover art. |
i've seen it leaked on slsk, but i'll wait for the cd.. it comes out next month and i've already heard like 3,4 songs... not too bad. Probably the same level as guero. Which by beck standards is alright, but on th elarge scale... fuckin awesome.

guero grew on me in a quite long amount of time.now i almost love it.i want to see mr hansen live.hope he tours italy post-album-release.
|
Ye aguero isn't bad... I thinka t first people had their expectations high when everyone was "holy shit, odelay pt2!" But really i don't hear it. I mean he's brought back the funk and quirkness.... but odelay was a more amaglam genre-boundless affair. Guero stylistically jumps the charts, but not as smashed together as odelay.
Also I listened to odelay for yhe first time in awhile last night and was amazed at how much better it was than i remebered it. |
odelay is a dream record.no way he can repeat that quality (not becuz he's a bad artists, but because artist can't always create masterpieces).same with tricky and pre-millennium tension.

i like the new album
|
Guero is good. Im looking forward to The Information veerry much
|
I saw an article (more of a short interview, I guess) in the recent newsweek that said it was more of a hip-hop album then his others.
It also had a track with Dave Eggers and someone else (I can't quite remember who) talking about what their idea of a perfect album is. That could be interesting/funny. I have yet to hear Guero.. Not a huge Beck fan. |

was about to start this thread... heard the lead single recently, pleasantly suprised... I loved Odelay, Midnight Vultures, Sea Change and One Foot in the Grave... he had sort of drifted off my radar by the time Guero came out though...
|
I think ever since Beck decided to be a scientologist his music has become very uninteresting. I think he got into that after Sea Change and before Guero, which would explain why Guero was just not exciting/provoking like all of his previous releases. Something about that hokey-assed um... religion seems to ruin people's creativednesses. This new cd is not doing it for me. I've listened to it twice now, just not happenin'. The only exciting part of it is the cover, and the stickers that come with it. I havn't tried out the dvd part of it yet, but i'm not expecting much out of it.
|
Beck's naff. That's what my little fingers can type at the moment.

I'm pretty sure Beck's not a scientoligist by choice. t=Rather his grandfather was one and Beck has fallen into it's lineage. This religion is apparently nothing new, but still stupid/. Beck gives them money but doesn't really know hteir core beliefs or anythign of suchness/ |
The single is pretty good. Much better than the singles off of guero
