Is there a future for Sonic Youth?
 

I apologize for being WAY out of the loop on the latest gossip concerning the direction of the band now that Kim and Thurston are on the outs. Can anyone provide any insight that isn't just catty or chatty bullshit?

Lee said that the band is currently on hold/on ice. Probably not but hopefully yes.

Sonic Youth have ime traveled into the distant future where they do not have to put up with obsessive fans.

The band, as an active/touring unit are likely over. There will no doubt be a future for them in the way of future releases...mostly unreleased material from the vaults/etc.

The Sunday also looks excellent. Swans and Sonic Youth on the same day. The poster looks fake though haha.

I consider myself lucky as hell to have seen them as often as I did. If the Eternal tour was the last, so be it. Sonic/Life

As great as that would be, it doesn't look likely. The festival organisers have "no comment" to make about it according to the NME website

It was interesting. I honestly didn't spend much time there before meeting up with some friends (a couple I hadn't seen in a while, which was cool) and heading to the bar. lol

I saw them often too, and met them twice. But I still feel unfulfilled because I didn't catch any Eternal. Well, I caught one, but I ended up stupidly getting drunk (something I rarely do), so my memory of the show is pretty sketchy. I remember some flashbulb moments, but I couldn't tell you if they performed well or poorly, and the setlist is completely lost to me.

If they're done for good, then I'm going to be kicking myself for not keeping straight during my last time seeing them. :(

Totally down with Echo, Warpaint, Yuck, Wu Lyf, Bjork, Dead Weather, and Grinderman.

It's hard to say because when any musicians have released several albums something always might change.
emotions carry themselves and evolve,
just like bands! : )
