Sister or Goo?
I bought them both yesterday secondhand, I really like Sister. I see Goo is a popular amongst most Sonic Youth fans, but I find the vocals on that album lacking - the music is cool, but the vocals just seem somewhat lazy. I like it but perchance it'll grow on me more over time. But I'm interested (not overally) as to what you folk like more?
The artwork for Goo is super cool. |
is that even a valid question? goo is tripe.
*not really. but you get the idea. |
Well, yeah, it is. it seems Goo is a huge album of Sonic Youth, which means people like it. It's mentioned alot.
The vocals on Goo are the only thing that I really don't like that much. |
People, speak up when you vote! Whats the point of voting when you aint contributing any voice? I want to hear from you.
The two Goo people, come forward and explain why you like it more. It's not a bad thing you do. |
Love 'em both, but Sister is my all time favorite. Goo was the first one I bought.
|
Goo is a great album, but Sister is an absolute classic. I think I'll listen to it now.
|
I love them both, and don't really think they can be compared particularly. However, I voted for Sister, because I do like it slightly more I guess. The best way to take in Goo is to watch all of the videos in order, which are all on the Corporate Ghost DVD now (which is cheaper to buy than the cd!)
|
I'll just go for Sister. It's the one i use and abuse most of the time :)
I just love how it sounds, the songs are great, some nice little walls of noise here and there, and there's stereo sanctity and tuff gnarl on it! |
Sister. no contest.
|
Sister is much more intense... Goo is somewhat shimmery... I like intense.
EDIT: But then again, when is SY not intense? |
Sister is the better album but I voted for Goo because it's the first album I heared and has sentimental value to it.
|
Sister Sister Sister coming after Evol was a mindblowing experience. Goo coming after Daydream Nation didn't have quite the same impact for me. (interesting afterthought... I like Goo much better now than I did when it was first released)
|
yeah , titanium expose . including that one , goo's got a couple of very strong standouts , which sister does but they exist more in part of a fantastic record as a whole , while the rest of goo is just 'good' .
hehe , i associate them strongy though because i bought them at the same time , so i thought it was funny that they're associated here . |
That's why they're associated here - because I bought them both together yesterday. Contrary to what people might think, I wasn't comparing the tunes. I've just seen Goo mentioned alot more than Sister, and I wondered why. I was considering leaving Sister behind to save some money and just buy Goo instead considering the rave it gets. But I'm glad I bought them both now.
|
Sister, no fuckin' dispute.
|
hm, tough one, but i will go for goo; with thanks to mote :)
|
sister.

I voted Sister, a near flawless record. Greatly inspired by Philip K Dick, a cool author |
This is the worst vs. thread ever. I mean c'mon, Sister is a masterpiece.
