american has been on a genocidal rampage since ww2, but has propagated the myth of 'peacetime' and tells us that without its existing power structure we'd all be under some evil totalitarianism. its capitalism keeps its subjects enslaved and addicted, soothing them with false promises of immortality and the world as infinite resource that they are entitled to plunder. its subjects pledge their allegiance with cynicism. its the worst of all possible worlds but we can at least draw hope from the fact that its days are numbered and it is edging nearer and nearer to defeat.

honestly, when in history have the americans not contributed either directly or monetarily towards genocide, holocaust and mass murder? this is not even a criticism, it is just a pathetic and even horrifying reality of being an American and the legacy of history.. |
America is behaving like every other country with power ever has, with mostly subtle differences. Some of these differences are comparatively better, some are comparatively worse.
It's not an issue of heritage or culture, it's an issue of being human animals. Speaking of things in terms of country ('America does this,' 'America did that') is an oversimplification that ultimately misses the mark. Humans will act how they will act. Putting them into different contexts from one another will make them react somewhat differently, but at all times humans react how humans will react. Trying to paint fundamental differences is beyond illogical, it's uninformed. |
yeah ultimately that's the way it is because we are humans? i don't think so. presupposing the human animal as a violent and self interested murderer is part of the problem and a sad justification of the status quo. i simply don't accept it. it's not a matter of 'human nature' whatever thats supposed to be. it's decisions and actions being made by people that are violent and wrong. there's nothing natural about the human and nothing that forces us to be intrinsically genocidal except our own choices

This is what all animals are. This is what nature is. And I never said that this was a justification or excuse, or even accepting of it. Sure, this might be the truth but that doesn't mean we can't overcome it. Or at least develop a system that makes if largely effortless to overcome. It's just a better starting point for understanding and fixing things. |
perhaps alaska.

i don't want it too but i'm guessing it has at least like another 500 years or something

It's still hard to believe that the US bought Alaska off Russia. |

I wonder if we could sell it back? Palin and all. |

Not a bad idea. And maybe the US could sell back what they took off Mexico. Though selling back what they stole might not go down too well with the Mexicans. |
