MR SHOW is my favorite sketch show ever.

That being said, I'm not sure how I feel about David himself, particularly after watching LET AMERICA LAUGH. He's funny, sure, but also, it seems, a total asshole.

I've notice during his stand-up stuff: he doesn't really tell jokes. He basically says the opposite of what he means, and uses the irony to get laughs (which it usually does). ("I do support our white troops." "One good thing about the war: ten thousand less Iraqis," etc. This is from the first few minutes of just ONE bit.) It becomes a tad predictable after awhile.


Yet....MR SHOW was amazing. He was brilliant in ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT. A lot of his stand-up bits are smart and witty.

I'm on the fence, I guess.

Yea, i can see where yr coming from on the stand up. I still think it's pretty awesome, maybe a bit much after awhile though- and a little one sided in the ways to get laughs. But the stuff about rednecks are all awesome- "I'm like a box full of tornadoes wrapped in a hurricane!!!"

I, like Cross, am from Atlanta. His standup bit about Light Up Atlanta is brilliant. It is from where I derive my constant habit of mentioning the Little River Band, particularly the song "Reminiscing," which is awesome.

he was pure genius on arrested development.

i liked his "it's not funny" album. he had this whole thing about james lipton that i thought was really funny.

David Cross WAS Arrested Development.

He's only one of the most intelligent comedians still performing that anyone can think of right now.
I like Mr. Show, but it's not wonderfully great or anything either.

Speaking as someone who admires stand-up comedy as an art-form, let me just say, Cross is one of the most hilarious & intelligent jew/atheast comics out there.

&, as for Mr.Show, I would agree that it had it's moments, & didn't at times, but every project is going to have a flaw.
