Woman dies from drinking too much water
|
I heard about this earlier today. While I feel sorry for her family (especially the kids) she should have known too much water can kill you. Shame on the radio station.
|
Shame on the radio station indeed they should be prepared for such things.
"Hold Your Wee for a Wii" haha |
she should have known water could kill her?? hahaha...um, how much did she drink exactly, cause ive drunk more than what was stated in that article and didnt come close to dying or feeling sick. its water for god sakes, how could the radio station know? ask anyone how much water it would take to kill someone and im sure they wouldnt know...there is no one to blame here, just a freak occurence...she sounded like a nice woman so lets not start with the "she got what she deserved crap"
haha...LOL @ she should have known...have some class man |
The people that approved the radio station contest are legally liable to some degree in this woman's death. Contestants may have signed a waiver that exempt the radio station from responsibility. The article isn't clear.
To say that no one is at fault because no one knows about water intoxication is just asinine. The bottom line is the contest endangered the contestants. And even if the station made them sign waivers to enter, then the station still would still be liable to some degree unless they could successfully prove that the risks involved with the contest were at least explained to the contestants beforehand. But chances are there were no waivers, judging by how dangerous this contest was. In this case, the station is fully liable. It is true that the contestants should have had a lick of sense themselves, nevertheless, the station should have to pay for their ignorance. The woman who died paid for their ignorance (and her own), and now her children have no living mother. Water intoxication stories are usually associated with hazing rituals. Pledges are forced to drink massive amounts of water and to not use the bathroom. After staying on their feet for hours on end, many hallucinate and/or get violently ill, and sometimes, somebody dies. However, the most famous case of water intoxication involves a British schoolgirl's birthday party in the late eighties/early nineties (feel free to look it up). She took Ecstasy and drank a couple gallons of water. Since pure MDMA dangerously inhibits the body from sweating, her brain cavity filled up with enough water to cause it to swell and compress the spinal nerve at the base of the neck which shut down her involuntary functions like breathing. This death prompted an investigation that made MDMA illegal in many countries, including the United States. |
The world is retarded.

...this radio station's legal department being more retarded than most... ...a woman dies because Nintendo came up with a stupid name and even stupider radio people thought it would be cute to have a contest for the consoles by seeing how long people could keep from going "wee wee"... It's certainly a stunning display of stupidity. Such astoundingly high levels of stupidity are achieved here that it almost reads like a mock-up of the news at The Onion or something; it just seems to silly to be real. Unfortunately, it is all too real. |
I mean, of all the competitions you could stage..

Don't gimme this shit. Anyone with half a brain knows about water intoxication (maybe not you?). The radio station should have done some fucking research & shouldn't have assumed drinking gallons of water would have no effect but a full bladder. And I do not believe the words "She got what she deserved" were in my original post, "man". Get yourself some class. |

oh, prisstina, let me introduce you to leatherneck. he does NOT have "half a brain", im afraid. please lower your expectations and deal accordingly. |
Hyponatremia occurs when the body’s balance of salt and water become quickly diluted. It affects the production of nerve impulses, and impairs mental processes. Cells take on extra water and expand. As they swell, they put stress on the body’s organs, particularly the brain, which has little room to expand within the skull. That explains why she was having headaches before she died.

Jesus, i laughed at the "hold yr wee for a wii" line but i feel fuckin bad for her now.
feel so bad for her kids. |
jesus, what have we become?
|
hahah,
gluttony is a deadly sin. |
I think this would be considered greed if any of the so-called ''deadly sins''. Anyways, it is the radio staions fault and many people the world over, especially doctors, nurses and nutritionists can tell you minutes on end about water intoxication.
I feel for her family and friends and wish them the best under the circumstances. |
gluttony and greed, she was asking for it!
it's suicide. wait until the insurance company finds out. hahah |

I don't agree. She was responsible for her own actions. |
only in america would such a contest happen
|
i read about that this morning, it's pretty stupid, didn't the radio station warned anyone, did some research, put a limit? if you do a contest that has to do with eating stuff, i think it'd have to be a logical step to inform yourself about eventual risks and warn contestants.. i feel sorry for this woman and her family, this shouldn't have happened.

What will happen with the radio station, James Blonde thinks.
