all other things aside, yr paying $5 for life-long insurance against fraud related to yr (what I assume easily stolen and duplicated) birth certificate.

if these things are actually being sold for $10,000 then surely you can imagine that the damage to yr life would be far greater than the $10k they're bought for, and the inconvenience that you would experience would be on a magnitude far greater than that nickle sack you'll be going without (although I'm sure that even a modest man such as yrself can pony up the 5 bucks).
JUST DO IT.
