it's a protein and not a neurotoxin is why. it necrotises yr flesh so that the spider can easily digest it.
I was bitten on the leg by one of these fuckers a few years back. never even felt it, until the next day. I got lucky. the black spot never got bigger than about the size of a pencil eraser.
