Thankfully, it seems that most Americans understand freedom of religion and support the right of Muslims to build a mosque near Ground Zero. But it seems disturbing that so many Americans think it's "bad judgement" for them to do so. Even our president alluded to this.
Could this have happened with any other group of people? If 9/11 had been perpretrated by a small group of blacks or jews, could you imagine people saying that blacks or jews should not have religious buildings near Ground Zero because it might offend people? I think people would be outraged by such a suggestion (and rightly so). But it's OK if we're talking about Muslims?
