you SHOULD be able to beat R-Type though, it' s pretty short. $3 is a good price. It's probably worth around $6 or $7 anyway. If you see DX available for GBC anywhere, grab it. It combines I and II from GB (II was Japanese exclusive) and colorizes them and they really look AMAZING in color.
