Don't get me wrong, there have been some horrible shows, but I'm actually surprised by how clever and consistent a lot of the writing is. Subpar Simpsons still entertains me. But it's hardly must watch tv.

Usually if an old episode wasn't funny then it made up for it in it's tone or the sentimentality of the characters. The new episodes sure have some cool moments, but it's like hanging a piece of meat in front of a dog for eternity.
