i'd like to think they do. I'd like to think that they change the way you look at the world (certainly acid and mdma changed my view of things) but i think that people looking for a spiritual experience will think they're having one when really they're tripping/rushing off their nut.
but then again it's all down to your own perception isn't it? If you believe you watched gods face reflected over the ocean, then you did. If you feel a spiritual connection to the people in the room even if it's just a foged haze then you have a spiritual connection to the people in the room. for that moment at least
