Well, Laila. Here's the answer to your dern question. Your teacher doesn't give two poopy doos whether or not Robin Hood is real or not. Your teacher does not care what point of view you take. What your teacher does care about is how stylistically and interestingly you can answer and support your answer in the context of an essay. You're in college now, and it's not so much whether or not your thesis is factually "correct", but rather, how excellently you illustrate and defend your thesis.
That's why your teacher asked the question.
Not to find out what your belief was about whether or not Robin Effing' Hood was a real person, but to find out how well you could write 500 words about whether or not Robin Effing' Hood was a real person.
