But will he lead the jew's to victory against their oppressors? A lot of Jew's at the time of Christ didn't believe he was the messiah because they believe the messiah would lead them in victory over the Romans. Although, Christianity took over as Rome's religion, so metaphorically, Jesus sort of did.
