mmmm. i think i miss the early and mid 2000's more than the 90's. such a good time for me and music/pop culture in general. just such a great weird vide going around during 2001 to 2006. my early 20 were fucked and exciting at the same time. like:
White Stripes/Strokes and some of those other garage rock revival bands.
The Chapelle Show - "I'm Rich Bitch".
Sonic Youth were still kicking ass.
Outkast - at the top of their game acummalating/concluding with "Hey Yall" Speakerboxx/The Love Below.
Southern Hip Hop was King - made me appreciate at lot of old music believe it or not.
Daft Punk.
Lots of reissue albums by bands i loved and could actually find in a record store.
Free Downloads were something new and exciting. heard a lot of great new and old music.
A lot of mainstream Pop and Hip Hop/RnB songs that i actually liked.
Great mainstream movies
Animal Collective were the shit and mind blowing. now every commercial advertisment has an animal collective wannabe playng in the background.
The cell phone and texting phenomenon.
Noise Rock and Noise Music in general - like Lighting Bolt and Wolf Eyes and many others. even though i wasn't a big fan of the latter, but still lots of great shit coming out as far as noise goes.
Better fashion.
Making fun of George Bush and his Bushisms.
just a lot of great music that came out during this time and my favorite time period for music. the 90's were kinda lame.
....then the economy tanked and now everything is FUCKING SHIT!!!!!!!
2009 to 2012 has been
. a least for me. i'm all for moving on but the last four years have been shit. ugh, reminds me of the late 90's. so bbbooorrrring.
