Even if that weren't the case, other estimates are that with proper and balanced development strategies the Earth can easily sustain 48 Billion. If we were to keep living the way we're living at this moment, only 2 Billion. So while we're indeed over the limit, that is our own fault, not the earth. There is plenty to go around (hence the daggers in Our Lady's heart there bellow in my signature). The beauty of it? Natural selection. Greed destroys itself, and human beings survive and carry on as ever.
