I'm not sure what you're trying to imply, that is their fault or something?
It's not like one day I decided it would be cool to self-objectify.
I was doctrined to do so and taught that there are serious consequences for women who challenge that in a patriarchal culture.
It becomes pretty difficult to change when most capital and power in the world belongs to men.
And the few powerful women are still working under the rules/guidance of men and a patriarchal culture.

Also, the main aspect to analyse would be:

- Objetifying women provides men with a sense of pleasure, importance, power, sexual gratification.
- Self-objetification gives women low self-esteem, paranoia, insecurity, self-hatred and lack of power and control.

So, while men experience this as a positive thing, it's very negative for women.

Since both cases are based on the idea that women should exist and strive to please men, it's essential for men to assess this behaviour and analyse the privilege in it, otherwise the cycle cannot be broken.
