Rob, those are not empty platitudes. You are asking existential questions much deeper than the legitimacy or hypocrisy of the institutional Church. Don't you fail, fall short, or make mistakes in your life? Are you just bullshit because of your mistakes? We ALL have natural contradictions, that is what makes is human, and the Church is a human institution as any other. Further, if God is truly the Almighty, isn't it His prerogative that if HE wants the Universe to be fucked up and flawed, isn't that His right? What if God likes distortion, noise, and off-cadence vocals? Why exactly does life or the world have to so perfect?

imperfection is not the same thing as hypocritical.
