Meh. Traffic accidents are the least perks that police and police chiefs receive. They can kill people on purpose and get away with it as much as hurting or even killing people on accident. Of course where these police related traffic accidents usually occur is in officer pursuits which is also why in LA they have finally changed policy, they don't pursue unless its serious. On the news this morning in LA a pregnant woman and her husband were hit in the crosswalk last night, seriously injured, she lost the baby, no charges filed because it was an honest accident. Generally speaking, in injury accidents with pedestrians as long as you stop and you're not drunk there isn't usually an arrest, so this isn't as out of the ordinary as it seems by the way.
