The answer is yes, but its a long shot. Ironically this means that US stand a better chance of advancing past the Round of 16 should they survive the group stages because their group may just be harder then the next two rounds! Klinsmann is right, USA just got to step it up, that is what the World Cup is all about. Let France and Argentina have their pity Groups and muffin soft schedules, all the other groups are pretty challenging. Ivory Coast-Japan-Colombia? Belgium-South Korea-Algeria? SPAIN-NETHERLANDS-CHILE?? Its not like those cake-walk groups.. Only A/E/F are cake, and even they could hold some surprises..
If USA CAN'T win in their group, we really don't deserve to be there in the first place. Personally, with our new style of play and improved defense, I think we are competitive enough, we aren't ranked 14th in the world for nothing
