amazing but too expensive.
i would have said sony mdr7560 which are monitors (flat response, no added anything) and a kind of a ubiquitous industry staple, but for the same price i spotted some higher rated audio-technicas on b&h

yes, it's $100 instead of $50 but pro headphones even the cheap ones (these are "cheap" in the pro market) are made to last a bit more than some shit skullcandy or bose or whatever. my sonys finally disintegrated after 10 years of several-times-a-week (if not daily) use; not sure about the ATs but all AT stuff i've ever had has been a good value (not top-of-the-line, but awesome value). so i might get these to replace the sonys down the road.
read the reviews. they're the highest rated headphone at that price point last i checked.
eta: wait wait wait-- 5-star rating for 12 bucks:

these are neither monitor nor professional but for $12 look waaaaaay better than some shit you get at target

ah, that's nice. especially the beer.
we spent the day purging the house getting ready for the move. went through the dining paraphernalia and found crate upon crate of utterly useless shit. boxed it all-- some to leave behind here, some to sell/give away. we're just taking 2 plates, 2 bowls, 2 forks/knives/spoons/teaspoons. sorry, guests will have to eat with the cat-- ha!
will arrive to a similarly neglected yard but too late to do much about it (september, first frost comes in october). maybe i'll start some indoor herbs for cooking though-- good southern exposure.
