Call me Holden Caufield, but I find phonies & their sentiments nauseating.
First off, he never wrote they were poems for children until he got called out. Instead, he repeatedly asserted that he was a better poet than Jim Morrison. Then, he backtracked claiming "that it was all a joke."
Secondly, a childrens' writer's skill level is usually analogous to the skill level of a country musician, i.e., they have little to no talent.
