ok, i'll dignify you with an answer.

just do a little googling, and see how many non profit organizations and private sector fund raisers are done around the world pretty much every week with research being the beneficiaries. nasa gets $16 billion dollars a year for their operations.

space research is monopolized by the usa, since the 50's, it has become a symbol of power and a competition among nations to prove who is the most powerful and, once the soviet union collapse, the u.s. have stood alone here since space research is so expensive. in order for other countries and their people to participate in space research, they have to immigrate to the united states and diverge money to fund the organization, not to mention the u.n.

there's hundreds of archeological sites, excavations and deep sea studies that are virtually halted and abandoned because of lack of funds. nasa has seldom stopped researches or missions because of this cause, most of the time they get stopped is because of other circumstances. money is not one of them.

funny fact: most of nasa's technology was developed from nazi research and they even benefitted from nazi scientists for their development.
