yes Leah and I had great fun at the show here last night--seemed to go very well--packed crowd, etc---sorry to any who couldn't get it--we tried to arrange a second show but the museum couldn't handle that at the last minute. anyway thanks to everyone who came out. we didn't get to see much of the rest of the festival but what we did see was excellent. We heard Tony Conrad's performance(s) were amazing (as they usually are), also Purient, Giffoni and Skaters. Gert-Jan Prins' set with Bas Von Kookwijk was very cool. New discovery is Finnish girl Laura Naukkarinen's band Lau Nau (whom Tony C sat in with at one of the late-evening events). Also among the installations was Scotswoman Zoë Irvine's table where they were stitching together bits of found-on-the-streets crumpled old cassette tape into new compositions, highlighting the noise and dirt picked up along the way. Rad! About Jim's piece, "Out With The Old"---for now it exists only as an 'exclusive' on the Avanto CD that was published for the festival---billed as his first new tape music piece in 5 years---i'm sure it's availalbe online somewhere for anyone who is interested...
