the thing is, communism was as much for mass production as capitalism, if not more. frederick taylor was admired by lenin. it's the markets that work different, but in essence it's the same shit.
i was surprised to watch a soviet movie some time ago ("moscow does not believe in tears") and found that people were equally preocuppied with acquiring consumer goods as in the west-- home furniture, cars, washing machines...
