Nice to see Saint-Saens get a mention. I got a piano quartet recently. It's pretty mighty. I listened to some Shnitke this morning. I think he's my favourite composer for violin (Bach's partitas aside, of course).

I quite like Stockhausen's helicopter quartet, but it's far and away from his best work.
