I really dislike this attitude that kids are stupid and that they are 'duped' into buying something buy an image which is 'fake'. By the point a band are in press, you don't know them, you don't own them, and their image is probably fake. This applies to anyone you could care to mention. Kids don't care about what they listen to. They do care, more than most cynical record collectors over 21, but they certainly don't care whether or not Billy Joe cares about the politics, whether he really means it man. Because kids are capable of actually, genuinely enjoying music, something that most adults forget how to do. And that is far more important than Green Days music, which, as I've said, leaves me cold (and has done since I was about 12, which makes this whole point somewhat circular).
