I probably don't publicly give thanks as much as I ought to, but despite the fact that I don't comment on it often, I do encounter a lot of new or forgotten music on here, and for that I'm appreciative. Savage Clone and T&B have sent me stuff that I have immensely enjoyed, to be specific, so though I don't often trumpet it, I do enjoy the musical contributions on this forum. It seems odd as this is a musical medium, but I don't post as much as I'm inclined in the music sections, because those often turn into unfocued arguments that could have otherwise been lively and illuminating debates.
But as to the purported "stupidity" of the general discussion section, I don't really see why everyone is so disappointed in it. People take things far too personally for topics that are generally meant to be light-hearted, and I don't see why people are disappointed by threads/remarks/individuals that are, by nature of the medium and their placement in it, bound to be trivial or absurd. I spout a lot of trite bullshit on here, but it's never intended to be profound.
I figure, those who desire to be amused by or pass the time with casual conversation will frequent this section of the board, and those who don't, won't. I'm not really sure what the naysayers expect, to be so utterly disappointed.
I'm a leech here, to be honest. Many of you know worlds more about music than I do, so I consider this a great resource, and often have nothing more to contribute than my opinion. But whether it's a musical debate or utterly pointless banter, don't take it to mean so much. Get from this forum what you've come for, enjoy it, and let the rest roll off your feathers.
