You should hear some Sal Mosca. He's now eighty years old and still playing. He's a real-live, crusty, old white dude. He was a student of Lennie Tristano's and his jazz piano is entirely improvisational. He sounds a bit like what one would imagine Art Tatum would sound like if he played some Bach.
