not necessarily, if two gay men were fighting against each other in a heated competition (any sport), and there is mutual animosity then even there homo-eroticism goes away
for a bigot, there isn't any existence of homo-erotic thoughts at all, and if anything makes any awkward contact with men a more violent affair, (shoving, punching, starting a riot)
