I knew some people who were evicted shortly after having a black roommate move in with them. Their apartment was infested with large New York City cockroaches, so they took a piece of bread and put it in a shoe box with about six roaches. Then they taped up the box completely with packing tape, and kept it in a dark closet. When the roaches inside had multiplied to the point at which they could no longer shake the box and hear a "shaker sound," they mailed it to the landlord's (a notoriously poor "slumlord" type who owned a lot of run-down properties but lived in luxury himself) brand-new house. They figured that when the package was opened, this would be the first time the bugs saw light, and would scatter and infest his spanking-new house forever.
