i'd never seen this thread before.

kid a was not overrated in the least. it's not underrated either. it's just as good as everyone says it is! and YES it is a fucking breakthrough in music -- a band known for slacker rock (creep), mope rock (fake plastic trees), and .. epic rock (paranoid android) .. no matter what, they're known for ROCKIN' .. but go and make a fucking ELECTRONIC album with almost no guitar?! and very fucked-up sounds and structures throughout the whole icecold landscape? and cutting edge (for mainstream music at least) production? yeah, how is it overrated exactly?

and besides all that, kid a could have been a fucking MESS... if you ever really listen to the album, there are ten VERY different songs on that thing.. though there seems to be electronic manipulations on every track (except the last one), that's the only thing that really ties the thing together. thom even sounds different on most tracks.

but every track suceeds as emotional, compelling, and innovative. a true landmark. radiohead will never sound better, though hail to the thief tried (too bad about that "punch up at a wedding" song though, eh?).

as for thom yorke's solo album, it was kinda boring but had its moments. i'm thankful it came out, but damn.. it was no radiohead.
