i have an editing machine i made, it's kinda like the latest incarnation of the computer i started building in 1999. nothing remains, but it's the same machine, kinda like heraclitus's river, ha ha ha. got a raid1 boot array, a raid 0 editing array, plus 2 storage drives for like 1 GB-- and 4 DVD burners. and a 2.4gHZ P4 that's still as good as new.

i'm going for monitors next. i'm ditching the old CRTs, as much as i like them, they can be a pain in the ass to cart around, and the coatings are fucked over the years, and, and, and... maybe i'll turn them into some kind of video wallpaper thing.

the new box im building is for web design. i don't need something so big really. just a lot of screen real estate.

Nice, 2.4gHZ is great compared to mine, and I don't have a single DVD drive even. My new one's for web design too, but also for designing web graphics and playing around with music programs, so I got a more expensive one. I'm with you on the LCD monitors too, they're more practical even though they don't have as good color depth. I just wish I had the kind of money to afford one. I already have two CRT's hooked up to my system (15'' + 13'') so I have a wide display area and two different resolutions at once to test pages out, so I don't have to switch all the time. It's handy!
