Last night, I saw an
outstanding performance in a Sacramento living room by a Portland band called
Fly! Fly! Fly! Fly! Fly!, one of the newest and most life-affirming free-jazz outfits to soar the skies from your own blown-out minds. The band is a quartet of tenor and alto sax, drums, and piano, and all four members are astoundingly excellent, skitter tastefully between tight and fancy-free, and they all really feel it and are contagious.
After seeing them the previous night in Davis, our own DJ Andy arranged to record them in KDVS' Studio A for a taped broadcast during his "Lewd Dance" program last night. I've got the mp3 download for this performance parked on my blog...
