Front of house desks are sited in the center of the venue you are playing, they usually consist of a sound desk and lights

You cant get sound right from the desk on the side of the stage as the sound engineer cant hear the speakers properly

Razorlight this year used the latest digital desks from Italy which are the smallest I have ever seen

About half the size of the usual desks

The front of house you are referring to is the old theater term for anything in the public area out front
