it's like when people talking shit about madonna's 80-ish era. i think it's ridiculous. it's amazing to dance and sing to at new year's eve, but that's MY opinion because I wasn't even born when those songs by madonna were being played in every radio station and made sense for EVERYONE , EVERYWHERE. it's all about the context.

Well, I still get paid every year by my former boss in Olympia to head up there for NYE and dust off the Madonna discs, so I know exactly what you are talking about, and I thank you. Mind, when those Madonna songs were new, Sonic Youth were playing them at their noisiest of shows, and people thought they were being ironic. But they weren't exactly.
